Easter 2020

Easter wasn’t quite what we envisioned this year. Our plan was to be in Colorado visiting Kels and Kearney, but of course Corona screwed that up too.  Even though we couldn’t make our trip, we still had a good time around home, not doing the greatest at social distancing.

Our prep for Easter of course included dying Easter eggs.

We had some pretty neat eggs this year! We also decided to paint our window! The kids had fun with it and it looks neat, but I’m not sure we will tackle a project like that in the house again. Thank goodness for washable paints!

Saturday, we had lunch with the Gansebom’s and an Easter egg hunt outside! We had to rehide the eggs in the basement and then the kids even hid them for us adults!

Our Easter Sunday church service was attended to on the couch in our pajamas. Definitely not what we are all used to!

We then had lunch with the Koehler group and played games! The egg hunt had to be in the basement because of course we would have snow and windy! It felt a bit more like Christmas than it did Easter!

Mom fail: didn’t get any pictures taken 🤦‍♀️.  I’ve certainly enjoyed having a long stretch of break off work and the kids have made my time at home fairly enjoyable! They are definitely getting along well lately ❤️

Puppy Love ❤️

There has been one bright spot in the kids’ lives (and our)-puppies!!! Margo, the golden retriever of Grandpa and Grandma’s had a little of puppies on March 17th!

Harper had been planning for quite some time that if the puppies were born anytime other than during school hours, she would get to go watch the birth.  The 17th was the first day that school was called off for the Coronavirus, and we were all excited to get the call around noon that Margo was in labor!

We were all quite excited and while not intending to stay the whole time, we got to witness 4 of the puppies be born!  The kids has so much fun that day! Birth of any kind is pretty amazing!

They have grown quite a bit in the last four weeks! The kids are head over heels for these pups! We get asked almost daily if they can go to see the pups! They’ve certainly made it hard to social distance ourselves from grandma and grandpa!

Harper would spend all day hanging with them if we’d let her! She has named a couple of the pups- Blue and Lake. She keeps asking about getting one, but I’m afraid Miles is plenty for this household!

The puppies are almost 4 weeks old already! We don’t talk much about when they will go to their forever homes, someone gets a little sad and occasionally teary- Harper and Grandma! 😁

More Corona

Well, since the last update Covid-19 cases in Nebraska have risen. We are still sitting pretty well in comparison to other states but that could all change rapidly. Nebraska doesn’t have a stay at home order but many states do.  Harper has started doing school with instruction from a video her teacher posts online. She’s done much better with this teaching method- she has to send her teacher pictures of completed schoolwork and videos of her reading. She has gotten to have a zoom meeting with her class which is a highlight of her Monday’s!

The kids are getting along better now then they have in quite awhile- better go knock on some wood!  We had some nice days which have helped a ton! They’ve done quite well but as you can see- we still have our moments!

I’m still plugging along at work but would be lying if I said I enjoyed my job right now. While I enjoy my patients and love being a nurse, work is not a pleasant place to be. Most of us are very anxious about bringing something home to our families or getting sick ourselves.  It’ll be a miracle if I can keep my hands moist through this ordeal.  As an employee, I have my temperature and any symptoms screened for every shift. I get to wear this fancy get up every day, all day!

Doing my best at making sure everything I bring into work gets sanitized before I leave work and I’m changing clothes at work and showering right when getting home.  My department had to move areas within the hospital so they could utilize our area for potential covid patients, that being said, nothing at work has felt normal since this whole thing started. My poor kids have seen me cry more in the last few weeks then their entire life- Tyler would probably say the same.

Tyler continues to work from home in his corner of the bedroom, though his desk has grown since this picture was taken. Carter makes Coronavirus jokes all the time, which helps provide a little humor through this sh*** situation. They definitely miss friends, we miss friends, family. We had planned to go to Colorado for Easter but traveling is out of the question.
