Carter had been talking about going to Lincoln since the first part of basketball season. Everyone that talked to Harlow knew we were going to “state”. They were so excited for cheering, hotels, fun with friends........but all that was turned upside down the day before we were set to play!
The Coronavirus has become a world pandemic and has caused a disruption in life as we had planned. The tournament would go on, but with very limited fans. We couldn’t get into the game to cheer on our tigers, we had to watch from our hotel conference room on a TV. The kids were devastated, let’s be real- I was devastated! We had all looked forward to this weekend for so long. We decided we couldn’t disappoint the kids entirely, so we still had a fun overnight stay at the hotel. The kids got a ton of swimming time in! Unfortunately, our Tigers lost a hard battled game. We are so proud of this team and all they’ve done- they are truly Carter’s role models. He can tell you all of their number- in both sets of jerseys, who has a new hair cut, who has new shoes on. This little boys heart is in basketball. He was glued to the TV during the game, but was quick to remind Jared when he was yelling at the TV that “the boys can’t hear you”!
What did he want to do when we got home, watch basketball of course but because of the threat of the virus, they have cancelled so many things- March Madness, College World Series, the NBA season is on hold, the Masters is Postponed. The only sports any of us will be watching is reruns!
As of now, the kids will remain having school until there are more cases in our area. All events involving crowds have been cancelled or postponed. Harper is struggling a bit with all the Coronavirus talk- she gets a little panicky when we talk about it. Hopefully, all the efforts to cancel or postpone events with large crowds slows the spread and doesn’t effect the US as much as other countries.
